Cheryl is an experienced therapist providing support to individuals, couples and families from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating a broad understanding of the unique challenges faced by her clients. These include trauma, emotional issues, relationship conflict and breakdown, parenting and religious issues,
As a clinical counsellor, Cheryl works collaboratively, assisting people to strengthen their connections with themselves and those around them. She focuses on helping clients understand relationship patterns and works to reduce conflict enabling more effective communication, parenting practices and physical intimacy. Cheryl believes that with professional support and encouragement along with a strong working alliance, positive changes can occur in relationships and enhance over wellbeing.
Cheryl previously trained as a nurse and motivated by a desire to support individuals more holistically and collaboratively, she trained as a counsellor. She initially worked with individuals before pursuing further training to assist couples and families. She supports parents with children and teens, particularly in post- separation parenting situations. Cheryl is passionate about ongoing learning, particularly around Trauma and Emotionally Focussed Therapy -- an attachment based, experiential model designed to build, repair and strengthen connections within relationships.
