Andrea Murray

RN, CCRN, B.Ed.Studies, M.Counselling, Grad.Dip.Psych (Science) candidate

Andrea holds a master’s degree in counselling from Monash University and is presently studying psychology. She started her career in healthcare as a registered nurse and educator. She had additional specialised training in addictions treatment, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma treatment and Gottman relationships training for couples’ therapy.

As a Registered Counsellor Andrea has worked in both private practice and medical settings. She has worked within multi-disciplinary teams. This experience helped develop an understanding of a team approach for treating issues such as addictions (chemical and behavioural) and eating disorders.

Andrea works with individuals and couples from broad cultural backgrounds with a particular interest in expatriates.

She works alongside clients struggling with :

anxiety | depression | loss and grief | relationship conflict and separation | addictions and impulsive behaviours | pornography | partner betrayal | parenting issues | PTSD | adjustment (change) such as moving countries.

Her counselling philosophy is to help individuals and couples identify goals, manage issues more effectively, become more confident and independent at a pace comfortable for them. Her counselling approach is person-centred and psycho-dynamic. She includes therapies such as narrative and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

Counselling is available online via Skype or FaceTime; however, it is preferable that an initial session is held in person.
