Andrea holds a Master’s degree in counselling from Monash University. Her initial career was in healthcare as a registered nurse specialising in critical care. She also hold a a postgraduate degree in education.

Andrea’s counselling experience started with pastoral care and lay counselling roles for more than twenty years alongside her medical career. Since becoming a professional counsellor she worked in both private practice and medical settings. At Promises Healthcare (Winslow Clinic, Singapore) she worked with a multi-disciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors and other therapists. This experience helped develop an understanding of a team approach for treating issues such as eating disorders and addictions (chemical and behavioural).

Other areas of counselling include: anxiety | depression | adjustment | loss and grief | relationship conflict and separation | addictions and impulsive behaviours | parenting issues | bullying and career challenges | change such as moving countries.

Andrea works with individuals, couples and families, adolescents and adults from broad cultural backgrounds including locals and expatriates. Her counselling philosophy aims to help individuals identify goals, manage issues more effectively and become more confident and independent at a pace comfortable for them. Her counselling approach is person-centred and psycho-dynamic. She includes therapies such as narrative and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

Counselling is available via Skype, however, it is preferable that an initial session is held in person.
