Nicky Chiswell BA (Hons Psych).

Psychologist

Nicky has been a fully registered psychologist since 2004.

She has had experience working with children, youth, families, adults and is also moving into couple’s work.

She has done a lot of work in the school setting as a school psychologist .

She also works as a consultant to churches in mental health education for those working in pastoral care. (She does this with two other Christian psychologists as an outfit called STEM. www.stemconsulting.com.au).

She has a special interest in working with people of faith who seek support for mental health and relationship issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, (including work and ministry stress), relationship problems, grief and loss, life transitions, sexuality and gender issues.

She also enjoys providing supervision and/or coaching for those in pastoral care roles as well as professional counselling roles.

Her counselling training includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy ( CBT), Narrative Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Bowen Systems theory as well as Solution Focussed approaches. She also is embarking on some training in Schema Therapy. Her interest in couples work is also informed by research and publications by John Gottman et al.
